Votes to block investigation of "Airport to Nowhere"

On May 21, 2009 Patrick Murphy voted no on a measure that would that would have recommitted a bill back to committee to investigate nearly $800,000 going to John Murtha's "Airport to Nowhere" to repave an alternative runway.  This airport, which ABC News has recently reported only handles an average of 20 passengers a day, has already received over $150,000,000 from earmarks by John Murtha.  Now Murtha wants to send "stimulus" money to this same airport!  Read the full article from ABC News and see the ABC News story online here.

A recap of the motion that Murphy voted no on is listed here at Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington's website.  The motion had bipartisan support but failed 154-263 vote, with 11 Democrats crossing the aisle to vote with Republicans and 28 Republicans voting with the Democratic majority. Murphy voted no along with Nancy Pelosi and John Murtha instead of voting to end this obvious abuse and waste.

Again Murphy continues to break his campaign promises of going to Washington to "clean up" the waste and abuse of career politicians. Instead he incredibly backs and supports these corrupt politicians every step of the way.  How does this help his Bucks County constituents?

Votes for Spending Bill

Pat Murphy again threw fiscal conservatism aside and voted for another huge spending bill on top of the already gigantic $787 billion spendulous bill.  This time it was to increase spending by another $410 billion and Murphy voted to approve the omnibus spending bill without a second thought.

In 2006 candidate Murphy criticized Congressman Mike Fitzpatrick in this article.  Note Murphy said "Our country is in a fiscal crisis" and he criticized Fitzpatrick for "reckless spending and irresponsible fiscal policies."  He also blasted Fitzpatrick for voting for a transportation bill that had earmarks in it like a teapot Museum in North Carolina and an aquarium in Connecticut.

So when it came time for Congressman Murphy, not the candidate but the actual elected Representative, to vote for real he certainly would not vote for a bill with wasteful spending in it, right?

Well the $410 billion omnibus spending bill passed the House of Representatives on Feb 25, 2009 and I guess all these projects that Murphy voted for somehow are not so bad now:
